OTT (over-the-top) platform On Tuesday, March 8, Netflix announced that actor Alia Bhatt will make her Hollywood debut with the film Heart of Stone. She will co-star with Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. The film, which follows the storey of Rachel Stone (Gal Gadot), an intelligence operative, will be released globally on Netflix this spring.
Heart Of Stone was directed by Tom Harper and written by Greg Rucka and Allison Schroeder. The film is produced by David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger of Skydance, Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn of Mockingbird, and Gal Gadot and Jaron Varsano of Pilot Wave.
On Tuesday, Netflix shared the news with fans, writing, “Starting our day by announcing (and SCREAMING!!!) that @aliaabhatt will be starring in Heart of Stone, an International spy thriller alongside @gal gadot and @jamiedornan.”
Meanwhile, Gal Gadot announced her involvement with the project by posting a few behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram. “Rachel Stone,” she says. It’s nice to meet you. “Stone Heart,” she wrote.
Alia Bhatt was last seen in Gangubai Kathiawadi, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Based on one of the chapters of S Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai, the film tells the storey of Gangubai Kothewali, who was trafficked into sex work but eventually took control of a brothel in Kamathiputra. In pivotal roles, the cast also included actors Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, and Seema Pahwa. Emraan Hashmi, Ajay Devgn, and Huma Qureshi will all make cameo appearances in the film.
Alia also has the film Brahmastra, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Nagarjuna Akkineni. The film is directed by Ayan Mukherjee and produced by Hiroo Johar, Karan Johar, and Apoorva Mehta under their Dharma Productions banner. Pritam has been commissioned to write the music for this film.
